Special Projects Manager Ron Corl About the Celtics Gym Project
When the Boston Celtics decided to renovate their training facility, Hancock Academy saw an opportunity to preserve and repurpose the gym’s original hardwood flooring. This material, steeped in the history of one of the NBA’s most storied franchises, was salvaged and transformed into various installations and furnishings used in community centers, schools, and public spaces across New England.
Material Reclamation: Careful dismantling and salvaging of the Celtics’ original maple hardwood flooring.
Design and Repurposing: The wood was creatively repurposed into new items, ranging from furniture to educational installations.
